A lucky charm has arrived for the Cincinnati Reds over the weekend and no, I am not talking about the lucky buckeye from the Miami Valley Gaming Commercials. Over the weekend, the greatest blessing ever decided to make an early arrival and I can officially call myself a father to my first child, Creed Don McAdow.

The Hillsboro boys ran away with the team title and the McClain Lady Tigers outdistanced the runner-up Lady Indians to claim the title Friday at the Hillsboro 62 Classics Diner Invitational at Hillsboro High School.

GREENFIELD — The Miami Trace Lady Panthers softball team made the trip to Greenfield on Tuesday for the second of back-to-back Frontier Athletic Conference games against the Lady Tigers of McClain High School.

Lynchburg 1943-44 championship team identified

It did not take long for local residents to respond to The Times-Gazette’s request to identify a picture the newspaper published on April 10 of the 1943-44 Highland County Basketball Tournament champion Lynchburg Bobcats. Two local residents, Virginia Rhonemus and Donald Wilson, called the next day to ID the picture. They both said Lynchburg defeated Fairfield, 31-10, in the tournament championship game that year. On the most beautiful day of this early spring thus far Monday, the Miami Trace Lady Panthers hosted the first of back-to-back Frontier Athletic Conference softball games with the McClain Lady Tigers. Miami Trace won the game by run-rule, 16-4, in five innings.

Fairfield dominates North Adams

The Fairfield Lady Lions traveled Monday to North Adams High School to play the much improved Lady Devils in a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game. North Adams (4-5 overall, 2-1 SHAC) entered the game as the first place team in the SHAC large school division. But this afternoon the Fairfield Lady Lions (6-5 overall, 3-2 SHAC) played their best game of the season to defeat the Lady Devils 11-1 in five innings.
