Construction projects will get underway in Highland County next month, as contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation begin work on State routes 28, 41 and 763.

On Monday, April 3, construction will begin on SR 753, where crews from WAI Construction will undertake a bridge replacement project at the 9.59-mile marker. The project site is located between Beaver Road and Deer Park Road, approximately 1.5 miles north of U.S. Route 50 at Rainsboro, and throughout construction traffic will be maintained in one lane with temporary signals.

WAI Construction was awarded a contract for approximately $343,564 to complete the project, and all work is anticipated to be completed by early summer.

In a separate project, operations will get under way in mid-April for an eight-mile micro-surfacing project on SR 28, as well as an approximately one-mile micro-surfacing on SR 41.

Crews from Strawser Incorporated will be paving SR 28 from the Leesburg corporation limit to the western corporation of Greenfield. The project will also include paving SR 41 from the northern corp limit of Greenfield to the Fayette County line.

Strawser, Inc. was awarded a contract for approximately $484,096 to pave both routes, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane in each direction with the use of flaggers. Construction is scheduled to begin April 14, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early summer.

With a busy construction and maintenance season on tap for 2017, motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution when traveling through these and other work zones.
