After serving her community for over 30 years as a nurse at both local physician offices and Highland District Hospital, Patty Krebs retired. But not for long. She returned to Highland District Hospital to continue her nursing career and has mounted over 55 years of nursing service to others.

“She embodies the meaning of health care. She truly puts the patient first,” said Bridget Skaggs, HDH outpatient specialty services manager and Patty’s supervisor.

Krebs started her career volunteering as a Candy Striper, and hasn’t looked back. She is a mentor to both new and seasoned nurses, offering them constructive criticism that promotes growth and sets an example of excellence.

“This, along with her exemplary customer service, is why Patty was nominated for the Ohio Hospital Association’s 2017 Health Care Worker of the Year Award, which will be awarded this spring. Highland District Hospital has not only appreciated the time Patty has enthusiastically given to its organization, but has benefited greatly from her leadership, dedication, and endless reliability,” the hospital said in a news release.
