Lynchburg Lions breakfast, lunch

The Lynchburg Lions Club will have its monthly pancake and sausage breakfast from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, at the Lynchburg Lions Club/Gun Club Building on Sharpsville Road in Lynchburg.Thc club will also serve lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Antique Tractor Pull that will be held at the same location. The public is invited to attend both the breakfast and the lunch.

Sale benefiting Calvary Chapel

A large sale will be held June 30 and July 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 11556 Highland Hills Drive. All proceeds benefit the Calvary Chapel building fund. There will be primitives, housewares, craft items, clothing, bikes, a piano, toys and miscellaneous items.

Fall Creek rummage/bake sale

The Fall Creek Ladies USFW will have rummage/bake sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 30 and Saturday, July 1 at the church located at 11345 Karnes Road, Hillsboro.

AAUW scholarship applications

The American Association of University Women is accepting applications for educational scholarships for 2017. Eligibility requirements are: Must be a current resident of Highland County area, must 21 years old by July 1, 2017, must be attending an accredited college or university and give evidence of being enrolled in a degree program. Applications can be obtained from the libraries in Hillsboro, Lynchburg, Greenfield and Leesburg and at Southern State Community College. The deadline for submitting an application is July 1, 2017. If These Walls Could Talk

The Emmanuel Christian Church will present If These Walls Could Talk, a history of the church and memories of it, during a service that starts at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 2.

Immunization clinic

There will be a clinic for immunizations only from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, July 3 at the Highland County Health Department, 1487 N. High St., Suite 400, Hillsboro.

Care-A-Van not running

The Highland County Health Department Care-A-Van will not run as regularly scheduled Tuesday, July 4. The health department will be closed in observance of Independence Day.

New Market Trustees

The New Market Township Trustees will hold public hearing on the 2018 budget at 7:30 p.m. July 4 at the New Market Township House.

Mowrystown Ice Cream Supper

The annual Mowrystown Church of Christ Ice Cream Supper will be held Saturday, July 8 beginning at 5 p.m. at the church. The menu includes sandwiches, chicken and noodles, salads, homemade pies and cakes, the homemade ice cream.

Presbyterian rededication concert

The Hillsboro First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Main St., will hold an organ concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 9 to celebrate the rededication and restoration of the historic A. B. Felgemaker Company Opus 678 pipe organ that has been serving congregation since 1899. The organists will be David White and Daniel Jacky. A reception will follow.

Marshall United Methodist VBS

The Marshall United Methodist Church invites children of all ages to a Vacation Bible School themed “Operation Arctic” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 10-14. Ladies Day Out Fashion Show

A Ladies Day Out Runway Fashion Show at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center is Wednesday, July 12 at 2 p.m. It will include a tea-style luncheon, a runway fashion show by Peebles Department Store, musical entertainment, mini massages and trying cosmetic products. Reservations are required. They are $15 and can be purchased now at the senior center or at highlandseniors.com.

Hillsboro VFW fish fry

Hillsboro VFW Post 9094 will hold an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 14 at the post located behind the Dairy Queen. The menu will include fries, slaw, fish, hush puppies and a soft drink for $8. The event is open to the public.

World Day of Prayer

World Day of Prayer 2017 will be observed Friday, July 14 at the Cornerstone Assembly of God in Hillsboro. The observance had been previously cancelled. The program will follow a carry-in meal starting at noon. Bring a salad to share and a water bottle or mug. The church is located on SR 73 in Hillsboro. Everyone is invited. Korean Vets Brunch, Roundtable

A Korean War Veterans’ Brunch and Roundtable will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 27 at the Hi-TEC Center Conference Rooms, 1575 N. High St., Hillsboro. Discussion will feature the Chillicothe VA Medical Center Acting Medical Director Mark Murdock and others. The discusion is open to all veterans and veteran caregivers/family members.
