Members of the Hillsboro FFA Chapter recently participated in the State Ag Sales CDE to see how agricultural sales affect the industry. The marketing of agricultural products is key to profitability in today’s competitive economy, and agricultural sales play a major role in the marketing process. Through this CDE, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate skills in sales by participating in a wide range of activities oriented around the total sales process. Meredith Oglesby, Lauren Grover, Kristin Jamison and Breanne Fender made up the team. Oglesby sold feed pans. Grover sold cattle equipment for show day, Jamison sold heat lamps for poultry, and Fender sold a garden seeder. They placed second at the district contest which allowed them to move on to the state contest. At district, Oglesby placed third individually. Grover placed 18th individually at the state. The team placed ninth in the state for the agricultural sales contest. Pictured, from left, are Oglesby, Fender, Grover and Jamison.
