On May 14, three members of the Hillsboro FFA Chapter – Bryanna Buerkle, Whitney Seitz, Brittany Rhoads – and Sarah Hoog of the Felicity Franklin FFA Chapter, participated in the Ohio Youth Capital Challenge at The Ohio State campus. This group was mentored by Meredith Oglesby, a member who participated in the Capital Challenge last year. In March the members were paired together to work on a public policy. This group decided to pick the issue food waste and they wanted to implement a compost pile in Highland County with the policy. With the presentation and a lot of hard work the group placed in the top three when presenting and move on to finals which will take place July 30, at the Ohio State Fair. The winning team will receive scholarship money. The team will soon be implementing the compost pile for members of the community to use. Pictured are Brittany Rhoads, Bryanna Buerkle, Whitney Seitz Sarah Hoog, with Meredith Oglesby being held.
