Arnett presented Shanks Award

Julie Arnett, the daughter of Kevin and Jo Heather Arnett, is pictured accepting the Bob Shanks Outstanding Youth Award before the beef sale at the 2015 Highland County Fair. A $1,000 scholarship goes with the award, which encourages exceptional youth to continue their education and possibly return to Highland County to work. Julie is a 2015 graduate of Lynchburg-Clay High School and is currently a freshman at Wilmington College majoring in agriculture education. She is pictured with Highland County 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator Kathy Bruynis. Julie is a member of Clover Leaf Clippers 4-H Club, Lynchburg Clay FFA, Highland County Junior Leadership Club and Highland County Junior Fairboard. The Bob Shanks Outstanding Youth Scholarship Award, an endowment fund, was established in honor of Robert B. Shanks, whose enthusiastic leadership, advice and friendship was an inspiration to the youth in Highland County.
