Power boat races start Friday at RFL

Power boat racing returns to Rocky Fork Lake this weekend, and for the first time in the 25 years the races have been held they will be a three-day event.Friday’s races will start at 5:30 p.m. and will involve the three most powerful boat classes – the grand nationals, national modifieds and two and a half modifieds, according to race chairman Dean Armstrong.“This is the first time we’ve ever raced on Friday night and we’re calling it a happy hour of racing,” Armstrong said. “It will be actual competition with boats racing for the first of three days worth of points. Some of these boats can reach speeds of over 150 mph on the straightaways.”
