Hundreds of motorcycles roared through Highland County Saturday as the Greenfield Eagles sponsored the 9th annual Charity Run to benefit the Highland County Society for Children and Adults.
Once again, the event raised more than $6,000, which will be donated to the society during its annual telethon in March.
Eagles trustee Mike Pryor said 459 bikers registered for the run, which started and ended in Greenfield. Stops along the route included uptown Hillsboro and the AmVets Post on North Shore Drive before bikes traveled into Waverly.
"We had a super good turnout even though the economy is so bad. People did what they could do," Pryor said.
Food and drinks were provided throughout the day and a pre-run show included music by local band Filo Beddoe. Participants also had a chance to win several prizes including a gas grill, a Harley Davidson rock and gift certificates.
The 120-mile ride across the county took approximately six hours to complete. Last year, bikers were delayed briefly as a result of tornado warnings, but Saturday's weather provided near-perfect conditions for the run.
