The three candidates for Highland County commissioner will participate in two “meet the candidates” events, one in Hillsboro, the other in Greenfield, sponsored by the Highland County Tea Party, the organization’s president said this week.

“Terry Britton, Tara Campbell and Alex Butler have agreed to share with us their vision concerning the future of Highland County,” said Gary Furnish, local Tea Party president. “After their individual presentations they will be available to answer questions from the audience.”

Furnish said that those who “have questions about their plan to bring jobs to our county, now is the time to ask. You may want to ask about their thoughts concerning the drug abuse epidemic we face today. If you have questions about the challenge of foster care, education, plans for Rocky Fork Lake, economic development, or anything else that you are concerned about, now is the time to ask.”

The first event will be held in Hillsboro at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Hi-Tec Center, 1575 North High St. The second will be held in Greenfield at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the public library.

“Please come and be a part of these very important meetings. Your input and participation is very needed to encourage the candidates and your fellow citizens. Come and be a part of an exciting and informative evening looking forward to a bright and prosperous future for our beloved county,” said Furnish.

Britton is the Republican candidate for commissioner, Campbell is the Democratic candidate and Butler is running as an independent.
