The 56th annual Highland County Fair will be held Sept. 5-12 at the fairgrounds in Hillsboro.

General admission will be $10 daily and includes rides. Senior citizens and veterans will be admitted free of charge on Monday when a veterans program will begin at 5 p.m.

Exhibitor/season passes can be purchased $25, as can a membership ticket. For those with passes who want to ride the rides, the fee is $7 daily for those with exhibitor, season or membership passes. An all-day ride ticket for Junior Fair pass holders is $6.

In recent years the public has been admitted to the fair free if they arrived before noon on Wednesday, but the Senior Fair Board voted not to have that option this year.

The gates open at 8 a.m. daily.

Parking is free.

Racing at the fair will take place Saturday, Monday and Wednesday. Motocross races will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5. Four-wheel ATV races will begin at 4 p.m. Monday. KOI drag racing will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The popular demolition derby will be held Tuesday starting at 8 p.m.

Tractor pulls will be held five days during the 2015 fair. On Sunday the Antique Pull and Field Stock Pull will start at 10 a.m. and the CITPC Truck Pull will begin at 7 p.m. On Tuesday the Tug Pull will begin at 9 a.m. On Thursday the Truck and Tractor Pull will start at 7 p.m. On Friday, Sept. 11 the Super and Pro Stock Pull will begin at 7 p.m. followed by the Single Engine Modified Pull. On Saturday, Sept. 12 the Truck and Tractor Pull Semis begin at 7 p.m.

There will be musical entertainment on Thursday and Friday. Soul’d Out will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by Joseph Habedank at 8 p.m. On Friday, Ma Crow & the Lady Slippers will perform at 5:30 p.m. followed by Filo Beddoe at 8 p.m.

The Market Goat Sale starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday followed by the Market Barrow Sale.

The Single Fryer Rabbit Sale will commence at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Starting at 6 p.m. Friday there will be the Dairy Sale, followed by the Market Lamb Sale, Steer Sale, and Beef Feeder Calf Sale.
