The Greenfield schools are gearing up for their third offering of Family Fun Health and Fitness Night on Sept. 28.

According to physical education teacher Mindy Anderson, the event is an opportunity for families to “learn about nutrition and a healthy lifestyle” through the activities planned for that evening. The event is free of charge.

On Sept. 28 from 6-8 p.m., Greenfield, Buckskin, and Rainsboro elementary students and their families will rotate to different activity and game areas on the Greenfield schools campus for physical fitness activities, and learning about nutrition, safety and healthy lifestyles.

Anderson said this is the third year for the event, and students and their families will be able to utilize all of the facilities on the Greenfield schools campus, including the track, gymnasiums, and the swimming pool.

According to the form recently sent home with elementary students, certified life guards will be on duty at the pool and appropriate swimming attire is a must. Those who plan to swim should also bring a towel. A student must be accompanied by a parent in the pool area.

A sign-up sheet for swim times will be at the main entrance of Greenfield Elementary.

Also, according to the sign-up form, from 6-6:30 p.m. is an Adena Healthy Kids Program on the blacktop area behind the middle school. Pick up an activity ticket at the Greenfield Elementary main entrance for door prizes.

Preregistration for the event is required. The forms sent home with all elementary students must be filled out and turned in by Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Additional registration forms can be picked up at any of the school district’s elementary offices.

The districtwide event is hosted by the Adena Greenfield Medical Center and the Greenfield Exempted Village School District. According to Anderson, the Family Fun Health and Fitness Night is facilitated through partnerships with area organizations that include Adena Health Systems, the YMCAs of Highland County and Fayette County, and the Highland County Community Action Organization Inc.
