A local man was injured Sunday when he fell while putting up a deer stand.

Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera said that at approximately 3 p.m. the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a male subject who advised that while he was putting up a deer stand, the stand fell approximately 20 feet with the caller in it.

The caller was Joby Lucas, 36. He advised that he was putting up his tree stand at 1760 Redkey Road in Concord Township and that he fell from the tree stand and needed a life squad.

The Southern Highland County Joint Fire Disfrict was called to the scene. The squad then called for UC Air Care from Mt. Orab. Lucas was flown to UC Hospital.

Barrera said that the matter is still being investigated.
