A hearing on a civil complaint filed Wednesday against Hillsboro Mayor Drew Hastings will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, a spokesperson for Highland County Probate Court said.

Probate and Juvenile Court Judge Kevin Greer will preside over the hearing, which revolves around charges that Hastings unlawfully prepared and submitted a letter to the city auditor to receive a refund of a $500 vacant building fee he had paid earlier.

The citizen complaint was filed by Hillsboro residents Craig Jackson, Ariana Jackson, Lisa Leeth, Kirby Ellison and Betty Bishop.

On Wednesday, Hastings called the allegation “ludicrous,” saying it was politically motivated.
