7 years prison for Mt. Orab man

A Mt. Orab man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for several crimes he admitted to in Highland County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday.

Ryan M. Hansen, 23, pled guilty to second-degree felony engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, third-degree felony having weapons while under disability, and seven counts of fourth-degree felony receiving stolen property.

As Judge Rocky Coss read aloud each of the charges, Hansen most of that time kept his head hung low, raising it only enough to utter the word, “guilty.”

Tuesday’s sentences on the nine charges are to run consecutively to each other and consecutively to a November sentence that saw Hansen ordered to serve 18 months for probation violations on a previous case.

The judge noted Hansen’s previous felony convictions as an adult, which include breaking and entering, theft, and receiving stolen property.

“The fact of the matter is, you’ve chosen your career path as a thief … instead of engaging in honest employment,” Coss said.

Hansen, along with his codefendants, is also responsible for paying more than $1,700 in restitution. As part of the plea agreement reached with the state, Hansen also has forfeited $126, bolt cutters, and a firearm.

Coss noted that the total sentence Hanson received of 84 months is a third of the combined maximum penalties possible for the offenses.

In another hearing this week, Hansen codefendant Cindy L. Hackney, 37, Mt. Orab pled guilty to four counts of fourth-degree felony receiving stolen property.

She is scheduled to be sentenced in February following the completion of a presentence investigation.

A Leesburg man this week admitted to violating his community control and was sentenced to nine months in prison.

Camry M. Lower, 27, waived his right to an attorney on Tuesday and admitted to violations filed with the court recently that included failing to report and his whereabouts becoming unknown.

Lower was initially sentenced to community control almost a year ago on one count of fifth-degree felony receiving stolen property. His community control was revoked on Tuesday and he was sentenced to nine months in prison.
