The approach of Valentine’s Day is a reminder of the annual Sweetheart Charity Ball, a fundraiser for KAMP Dovetail.
KAMP (Kids And Motivated People) Dovetail is the only one of its kind in the area and each summer more than 300 kids with disabilities come to the camp to enjoy things like fishing, boating, games, horseback riding, swimming, crafts, entertainment, and more.
Set for Feb. 13, the ball is sponsored by SATH (Supplementary Assistance to the Handicapped), and will be held at the Roberts Centre, 123 Gano Rd. in Wilmington.
The event will kick off with appetizers at 6 p.m., then dinner at 7 p.m., and dancing from 8-11 p.m. The cost is $100 per couple, and includes appetizers and dinner, a photo of each couple, and door prizes.
Dress for the evening, according to a flyer for the event, is semi-formal/formal.
Child care is available for the evening and is $25 per family. The children will be treated to dinner and entertainment, according to information on the KAMP Dovetail website.
Those interested can submit a song request or a dedication to be played during the ball.
The band playing at the ball is Different Hats Music featuring Elizabeth Hayes, according to information provided by SATH Executive Director Linda Allen.
Organizers are currently seeking door prizes and table sponsors for the event. According to information provided by Allen, a full sponsorship of a table is $400, while partial sponsorships begin at $100. All sponsors will be announced at the event. Sponsors names will also be in the event program and displayed on the table. A “thank you” ad following the event will also include sponsors and donors.
