A 13-year-old who is no stranger to the Highland County Juvenile Court admitted this week to two felony offenses and has been ordered to a juvenile rehabilitation facility in Xenia.
The teenager in November admitted to fifth-degree felony breaking and entering, an offense associated with his part in property destruction at a veteran’s organization. He also admitted to receiving stolen property. He was ordered to pay restitution, was put on community control indefinitely, and was ordered to perform 40 hours of community service at the organization that his actions directly impacted.
In December, and after serving some time in detention, he was ordered to serve an additional 20 hours of community service for violating his community control.
He was back in the courtroom in February facing two third-degree felony burglary charges, which he admitted to this week.
This time, Judge Kevin Greer ordered the teenager to a juvenile rehabilitation center in Xenia. He also has a suspended commitment to the Department of Youth Services (DYS), which is the prison system for youth.
In another case, a 16-year-old male on community control who tested positive recently for multiple illegal drugs has been ordered to complete treatment at a Troy detention facility. He also has a suspended commitment to DYS.
Last month he was arrested on a warrant after being reported as a runaway. Following a positive drug screen he was ordered to remain in detention.
A 14-year-old male previously on community control in another case was brought back before the court for misdemeanor domestic violence.
The teen was placed in the temporary custody of Highland County Children Services. The agency will see that the 14-year-old is involved in services that can help him overcome any behavioral issues.
A 15-year-old female previously ordered by the court to attend school without unexcused absences or tardies was back in court for disobeying those orders. This time, the female must spend the next two weeks in detention.
A 16-year-old female who drove without a license and ended up striking a child with the vehicle has admitted to the charge of assault. She is not permitted to obtain her license for six months, will be on indefinite community control, and has a suspended commitment to detention.
A 15-year-old male previously ordered to remain in detention after an altercation with a parent now must go to a detention facility in Troy after violating his probation. A review hearing on his time in detention is scheduled for May.
A male, 15, previously placed on community control for felony burglary, was ordered to remain in detention this week after he was taken into custody for allegedly inappropriately touching a female at his school. He faces misdemeanor gross sexual imposition. He is set for another hearing later this month.
