A Hillsboro woman was in intensive care Thursday morning after a pedestrian accident Wednesday night in the 100 block of East Main Street, according to the Hillsboro Police Department.

Teresa Sellman, 41, of Hillsboro, was struck in front of White’s Cake Box in Hillsboro at 9:48 p.m. by a 2003 Buick driven by Jeffrey Vickers, 48, of Hillsboro, according to reports.

The Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District reported that Sellman was struck while crossing Main Street.

Two ambulance crews, along with officers from the police department and Highland County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene.

Paramedics with Paint Creek attended to the victim’s significant injuries at the scene, then requested that an aeromedical transport meet them at Highland District Hospital. MedFlight 9, stationed outside Jeffersonville in Fayette County, responded and transported the victim to Kettering Memorial Hospital in Dayton, Paint Creek Public Information Officer Branden Jackman said in a news release.

Sellman was in the ICU unit at the hospital and was listed in stable condition Thursday morning, the police department said.

“Paint Creek Fire wishes to thank Hillsboro police officers Adam Day and Zach Burnett, Sergeant Craig Seaman from the sheriff’s office and Hillsboro resident Emmy Lee Jenkins for all their help on this difficult scene by holding equipment, flashlights, and making sure traffic was controlled while the paramedics and EMTs worked on scene,” Jackman said in the news release.

Paint Creek crews were able to start treatment, package, and transfer the injured female into MedFlight’s care within 29 minutes from the time of call, Jackman said.

The police department said Thursday that the accident remains under investigation.
