A father and son were arrested after hundreds of suspected marijuana plants were discovered at a location where they were found, Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera said Friday.

The sheriff said that on Wednesday deputies went to 4240 Carmel Road in Brushcreek Township in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant. Upon arrival at the scene deputies were met outside by two male subjects – Brian L. Nicely, 53, and Tristan M. Nicely, 19 – who both had active warrants for their arrest out of Highland County.

Court records indicate that both men were wanted on warrants for failure to appear.

Both subjects were taken into custody.

Upon further investigation, it was found that the subjects had a large marijuana grow operation on the property. Detectives from the sheriff’s office obtained a search warrant and executed it, according to Barrera.

Inside of two campers on the property there were two grow operations. Another grow operation was located inside a home on the property and housed several plants and equipment commonly used in the growing of marijuana, Barrera said.

In all, Barerra said, more than 400 plants believed to be marijuana were located inside and outside the property.

Both males were taken to the Highland County Justice Center, where Barrera said they were being held on their warrants.

This case remains under investigation.
