Flooding washes out road section


Deputies with Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera’s office were responding to various weather-related issues Wednesday. Heavy rains led to flooding that washed out this section of SR 785 near Burgess Road in Jackson Township on Wednesday afternoon. The Ohio Department of Transportation said SR 785 been closed near the 2.7-mile marker due to the washout and culvert collapse. Motorists were being detoured via SR 73 and SR 247. Several weather events happened Wednesday, including a morning tornado watch and severe thunderstorm watch in southern Highland County, and a flood watch later in the afternoon.
