Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports that for the week of July 5th-12 the Highland County Sheriffs Office received 338 911 calls, answered 177 requests for service, dispatched 104 fire and EMS runs, took 44 offense reports and investigated two traffic crashes.

At 11:10 p.m. on July 8, a deputy was dispatched to Beech Trail at Rocky Fork Lake to investigate a neighborhood disturbance. Callers reported a white male not wearing a shirt beating on the front door of a residence trying to instigate a fight. The male left on foot, but returned a short time later to continue yelling and screaming. A deputy patrolled the area but the suspect had left prior to his arrival. Witnesses were unable to provide any information as to the identity or whereabouts of the male.

A Hillsboro was arrested on domestic violence charges Thursday, July 9, following an altercation at a Washington Township residence. The female victim called the sheriff’s office being assaulted by Anthony K. Caudill, 25. Deputies arrived at the Ballentine Road residence where the incident took place within eight minutes of the call. A life squad from the Paint Creek Joint EMS-fire district was called to the scene to treat the victim’s injuries. Caudill was transported to the Highland County Justice Center on a parole violations from the Adult Parole Authority.

Multiple calls reporting a domestic fight were received from the 7000 block of Hills Road on Friday, July 10, around 4:15 p.m. Callers first reported hearing the argument before a neighbor called to say the victim and a child were inside her residence with the male outside yelling and screaming. Deputies arrested Robert D. McKinney Jr., 27, and charged him with one count of domestic violence.

A motorists driving on U.S. Route 62 in Fairfield Township called the sheriff’s office to report his vehicle being hit by an unknown object thrown from the ditch by several juveniles. A deputy, with assistance from a state trooper, located the suspects at a nearby residence. All of the juveniles’ parents were contacted and the matter was handed over to them to death with at their discretion. No charges were filed.

The Hillsboro Police Department has released the following information:

On Monday, July 13, 2015 at approximately 9:35 a.m., the Hillsboro Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of West Beech and North West Streets. Joseph Hawk of Hillsboro was headed eastbound on West Beech Street and had stopped at the stop sign at North West Street. Donna Williams of Hillsboro was headed northbound on North West Street and had stopped at the stop sign at West Beech Street. Hawk advised that he reached the intersection first. Williams was not sure who arrived at the intersection first. Hawk and then Williams proceeded to go. The vehicles struck in the intersection causing damage to both vehicles.
