Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of June 8-14. The Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 406 911 calls, answered 158 requests for service, dispatched 126 fire and EMS runs, took 29 offense reports and investigated two traffic crashes.

A Dodson Township resident called the sheriff’s office on June 8 at 12:07 a.m. after receiving a threatening phone call that someone was outside his home. A deputy responded and checked around the residence and outbuildings, but no one was located.

At 4:08 p.m. on June 9 a deputy was dispatched to Grande road to investigate and breaking and entering and theft complaint. An inventory of the missing items was taken and evidence was collected.

The sheriff’s office received several calls from a Williams Road at 9:32 a.m. June 10 reporting a domestic disturbance involving the threats of self-harm and custody issues. Deputies arrived a short time later and order was restored. After speaking to family members a peaceful solution was reached and no charges were necessary.

The Hillsboro Police Department has released the following information for June 12 – 14:

INCIDENT

At 1:54 a.m. on June 14, officers from the Hillsboro Police Department responded to the Ole Depot. The staff advised the police dispatcher that there was an intoxicated male causing problems and refusing to leave whey they asked him to. Upon arriving and dealing with the subject, subjected was identified as Jason Huffer, 29, of Greenfield. Huffer would not listen to officers commands even after several warnings. Huffer was arrested and transported to the Highland County Jail. He was charged with persistent disorderly conduct (M-4).

ACCIDENTS

On June 12 at 11:21 a.m. the police department responded to a crash in the intersection of North West and West Beech streets. Upon officer arrival it was found that Carl Dietrick, 65, of Mt. Orab, operating a 2006 Ford truck, entered the intersection the same time as Shirley A. Williams, 74, of Hillsboro, operating a 2013 Hyundai sedan. Both vehicles struck one another.

On June 15 at 3:10 p.m. the police department responded to a crash in the intersection of North West Street and Fenner Avenue Upon officer arrival it was found that Teresa Carter, 31, of Hillsboro, operating a 2013 Chevrolet sedan, was southbound on North West Street and struck the rear of Courtney Fisher, 26, of Stout, operating a 2003 Hyundai sedan. Carter was cited for assured cleared distance.

On June 16 at 4:36 p.m. the police department responded to a crash in the intersection of West North and North West streets. Upon officer arrival it was found that a vehicle driven by Richard Whitenack, 48, of Hillsboro, struck the rear of a 17-year-old Blanchester motorist’s vehicle. Whitenack was cited for assured cleared distance.

Terry Gilpin, 41, of Winchester, citation for assured cleared distance.

Seventeen-year-old juvenile, citation for failure to yield at intersection.

Thomas Partridge, 73, of Hillsboro, citation for driving under suspension, improper backing.

Charles Gorman Jr., 37, of Peebles, citation for speed.

Kyler Ruark, 26, of Manchester, citation for speed.
