Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of June 22-28 the Highland County Sheriffs Office received 380 911 calls, answered 147 requests for service, dispatched 119 fire and EMS runs, and took 46 offense reports.

At 1:07 a.m. on June 23 a resident of the 4000 block of SR 321 called 911 to report that a 12-year-old male was at her residence saying he had been abducted from his home in Brown County. A Highland County deputy responded to the scene while Brown County deputies were sent to the child’s residence. The juvenile was transported back to the Highland County Justice Center where he was soon reunited with his parents. He told deputies an unknown male driving a dark-colored vehicle took him out of his bedroom window and drove to Highland County where he was released from the vehicle aid fled to the nearest residence. However, after a lengthy interview the child admitted to fabricating the abduction story to avoid getting in trouble for leaving his home without permission. He was released to his parents with no charges being filed at this time.

A resident of Fishback road called the sheriff’s office at 6:48 a.m. on June 26 to report his car was broken into overnight a briefcase, checks and several other items taken. A deputy responded to the seen and took a report while collecting eveidence.

Deputies were dispatched to a North Shore Drive residence at 12:24 a.m. on June 27 after a 12-year-old called 911 to report a male suspect was outside trying to get his older sister out of a window. Family members had the suspect cornered when deputies arrived and placed him under arrest. Samuel G. Ross, 19, of Hillsboro was transported to the Highland County Justice Center on charges of criminal trespass and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Additional charges are likely to be presented to a grand jury.

A deputy responded to a shooting on Cynthiana Road at 11:18 a.m. on June 28 in Brushcreek Township. A 14-year-old male was accidentally struck in the buttocks by a stray bullet and had to be transported to Highland District Hospital. Brushcreek EMS and fire were both dispatched to the scene to assist the patient.

Arsenio Eaton, 26, Pennsylvania, was arrested on a bench warrant filed out of Colorado Springs, Colo. for identity theft.

Amanda Cherry, 34, of Pennsylvania, was arrested on a bench warrant filed out of Colorado Springs, Col. for identity theft.

Gregory S. Walters, 53, of Hillsboro, failure to file city income tax.

Todd Booth, 26, of Wyoming, Ohio, disorderly conduct.

Sharon Hamm, 40, of Hillsboro, disorderly conduct.
