Highland County Sheriff’s Office reports

Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Oct. 17-23, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 299 911 calls, answered 155 requests for service, dispatched 127 fire and EMS runs, took 28 offense reports and investigated three traffic crashes.

At 11:04 p.m. on Oct. 17 a Carnation Way resident called the sheriff’s office to report a domestic disturbance. Deputies responded to the scene where they located a female with injuries sustained from an assault. Charles M. Sykora, 45, was arrested and charged with one count of domestic violence.

On Oct. 18 at 9:25 p.m. a New Market Township resident called the sheriff’s office to report receiving threatening messages via social media. A deputy completed an investigation into the allegations but decided no charges would be necessary at that time. The parties were advised to avoid contacting one another or charges would be filed.

A Sorg Road resident called the sheriff’s office at 1:38 p.m. on Oct. 21 to report three of his car tires were slashed sometime overnight. A deputy was dispatched to the scene to take a report.

At 3:14 p.m. on Oct. 23 the sheriff’s office received a report of a domestic violence incident that occurred at a residence in the 10000 block of SR 28. A deputy responded to the scene where several witnesses were interviewed and two subjects were charged with domestic violence. William Lee Oyer and Courtney Oyer of Leesburg will be arraigned on those charges in Hillsboro Municipal Court on Oct. 24.
