The Highland County Historical Society has announced a fall bus tour to historic Ross County.

The tour will be Thursday, Oct. 8 and will leave from the Hillsboro Presbyterian Church parking lot promptly at 8:30 a.m. The first stop will be in Bainbridge at the Paxton Theater.

Following a tour of the theater, a presentation by archeologist Thomas Johnson of House of Phacops in Locust Grove is planned. The tour will then continue to the Adena Mansion & Gardens in Chillicothe. Once the 2,000 acre estate of Thomas Worthington, sixth governor of Ohio, the mansion house has been restored to look much like it did when completed in 1807. Participants will have a guided tour of the Mansion followed by a catered bag lunch by Schlagel’s of Chillicothe. There will be time to explore the gardens and gift shop. Lastly, the bus will take the group to the Ross County Historical Society Museum where there are many exciting exhibits, including Ohio’s Constitution Table.

The bus tour will return to Hillsboro at 4:30 p.m.

Tickets are $50 for historical society members, $60 for non-members, and the tour is limited to 50 participants. The deadline to secure a spot on the tour is Sept. 15.
