Altrusa makes a difference

Altrusa International of Highland County participated in a service project for Make a Difference Day, which is the fourth Saturday in October. This National Day is devoted to helping others through volunteer work in the community. The 28 ladies of Altrusa brought in hundreds of pairs of underwear and distributed to all the elementary schools in Highland County. This donation to the teachers will make a difference to children if a need arises. Altrusa of Highland County strives to meet the literacy needs of the county with its distribution of books through the schools and the Little Free Libraries. The ladies pictured are current or retired teachers, from left, Deb Beatty, Barb Yochum, Connie Williams, Mary Stanforth, Shannon Yochum, Paula Barreras and Gina Earley.
