Thursday dinners at AmVets

The AmVets Post located on North Shore Drive, Hillsboro, will hold a dinner every Thursday which is open to the public. There will be good food at reasonable prices.

Christmas craft and bake sale

The Greenfield Church of Christ in Christian Union is having a Christmas craft and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 at Southern Hills Bank in Greenfield. For more information call 937-981-2772.

Christmas in Marshall

The Marshall School Committee invites everyone to the 10th annual Christmas in Marshall from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Marshall school gymnasium. Enjoy turkey and dressing, homemade noodles, mashed potatoes and all the trimmings. A freewill donation will be accepted. There will be a benefit auction beginning at 7 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the preservation of the Marshall gymnasium. Fill the Truck event

The fourth annual Fill the Truck event for the Highland County Community Action Organization Inc. will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 at Walmart in Hillsboro. Last year the Fill the Truck collected over 100 toys and over $900 in cash donations. In order to continue this progress and broaden the reach, your support is needed. To donate toys and coats all items must be new with original packaging and tags. Donation boxes will be located at each entrance of Walmart from Nov. 30 until Dec. 22.

Lynchburg Lions Club candy

The Lynchburg Lions Club is selling bulk candy through December during regular business hours at Southern Hills Community Bank and Beechstreet Candleworks in Lynchburg. Fifteen different varieties are on sale.

HCA dinner theatre

The Hillsboro Christian Academy will present “The Summoning of Everyman” in a dinner theatre setting Dec. 3 and 4 at the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church, 8080 SR 124. Tickets in advance are $12 for non-students and $8 for students. T-shirts are also available with reservations for $15. Tickets at the door will be $15. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the play begins at 6 p.m. For more information call the school at 937-393-8422.

Festival of Trees

Bells Gardens Place will be hold its first Festival of Trees from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at the facility at 251 Harry Sauner Road. Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Highland County. Refreshments will be provided. Relay is asking Highland County businesses and individuals to decorate and donate Christmas trees no taller than 5 feet to be auctioned off. Hillsboro VFW fish fry

Hillsboro VFW Post 9094 will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. The menu includes fish, fries, slaw, hushpuppies and a soft drink. The event is open to the public.

Eagles host Santa Dec. 5

The Greenfield Eagles will host a Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is open to the public and will cost $5 per person. Pictures with Santa are $2 per person. The Greenfield Eagles Lodge is located at 1275 N. Washington St.

Senior center breakfast with Santa

Breakfast with Santa in a Winter Wonderland at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center is Saturday, Dec. 5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit Santa, the Grinch and three Frozen-like characters in the center’s forest of lit Christmas trees and enjoy an indoor snow pit. Admission is $5 per person; anyone 23 months and younger is $3. Admission includes breakfast, one 4 by 6 picture with Santa, games, decorating Christmas cookies, making reindeer food and more. Steer tagging, weigh-in Dec. 5

Highland County Junior Fair exhibitors planning to take a steer to the Highland County Fair in 2016 are reminded that the steer tagging and weigh-in will be Saturday, Dec. 5 from 8-10 a.m. at Union Stockyards in Hillsboro.

This will be the only day steers can be tagged for the 2016 Highland County Fair. Nose prints will be taken for identification. County Bred and Born exhibitors will need the birth date of steers, and breeder’s name, address and phone number.

Tags cost $2 per animal. In case of extremely bad weather, listen to Buckeye Country after 6 a.m. the morning of the weigh-in as well as watch the Jr. Fair Board Facebook page. Call the Union Stockyards at 393-1958 or Jana Holbrook, Junior Fair coordinator, at 937-402-6219 after 7 a.m. if you have any questions on that Saturday.

Christmas Bazaar

St. Mary Catholic School will have its annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the school hall at 119 E. Walnut St., Hillsboro. Food will be provided by the St. Mary Youth Group. Any crafters or vendors who would like to set can call the school at 840-9932. Tables are $25 each.

Mowrystown Holiday Craft Fair & Bazaar

The Mowrystown Holiday Craft Fair & Bazaar will be held at Whiteoak High School, North High Street, Mowrystown, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. Lunch will be served. The menu will include soups, sandwiches, chips, pies, cakes and drinks. Santa will make an appearance following the holiday parade which will begin at Crop Production (West Main Street) at 1 p.m. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served while pictures with Santa are being taken. The Lynchburg Lions Club will have its monthly pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Lynchburg Lions Club/Gun Club on Sharpsville Road in Lynchburg from 8-11 a.m. It will feature an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast plus other items such as sausage gravy and biscuits. The public is invited.

Alzheimer’s/Dimentia Lunch & Learn

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Cincinnati chapter, will host an Alzheimer’s/Dimentia Lunch & Learn For Families from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7 at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center, 195 Muntz St., Hillsboro.
