Oglesby finishes 5th in state in speaking


Public speaking is a contest where FFA members can learn how to speak in front of an audience and become comfortable with their surroundings. This contest has helped many members become more open with with others and more involved in the community. In the Creed Speaking Contest, the Hillsboro FFA had Morgan Kelly place second at subdistricts, which moved her on to districts. Lana Grover, Attie Johnson and Kirsten Harp also participated in the subdistrict contest. In the Extemporaneous Speaking Contest, Hillsboro had Kaleb Harp participate and he placed third at subdistricts. In Advance Prepared Speaking, Meredith Oglesby participated and placed second at subdistricts, which moved her on to districts where she placed second again. Oglesby then moved on to the state competition where she place fifth with her speech on Farm to Fork, or Farm to Landfill. Pictured are Johnson, Harp, Kelly, Grover, and Oglesby at subdistricts.
