SR 28 will reopen June 20

A culvert replacement project on SR 28 this week has been delayed, but the project is getting back on track and the route will be open to traffic Monday, June 20.

State route 28 was closed Monday, June 13, between Miami Trace Road and Collier Road for crews from ODOT’s Highland County Maintenance Facility to replace a deteriorated culvert. Although the project was scheduled to be completed by the end of the week, a delay in material delivery resulted in work being pushed back a couple of days and forcing the closure to be extended through the weekend.

Operations were getting back on track Friday, with the county maintenance crews pouring the final slab of concrete and completing finishing work. However, SR 28 will remain closed to allow for the concrete to cure, and while it is closed, motorists will continue to be detoured via SR 138 at Greenfield and SR 771 at Leesburg.

For additional information on lane and road closures caused by construction, accidents, flooding or other related traffic events throughout the state, visit on ODOT on the web at www.Ohgo.com.
