Highland County Sheriff’s Office reports

Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of June 20-26, the Highland County Sheriffs Office received 315 911 calls, answered 129 requests for service, dispatched 100 fire and FMS runs, took 36 offense reports and investigated three traffic crashes.

Deputies were dispatched to investigate a domestic disturbance in the 8000 block of U.S. Route 50 at 8:12 p.m. on June 20. A female called the sheriff’s office to report an argument between herself and her husband. Both parties were interviewed by law enforcement, but no charges were filed. No assault occurred. Alcohol was determined to be the contributing factor in the incident.

A Grimsley Road resident caned the sheriff’s office at 11:13 p.m. on June 24 to report seeing an unknown person with a flashlight prowling around her front yard. A deputy that was dispatched to investigate the complaint patrolled the area including, Grimsley and Bridges roads. A subject with a flashlight was located near that location looking for a lost canine. Areport was taken.

A motorist called the sheriff’s office at 4:23 p.m on June 25 to report seeing a van and a white car parked on Wilson Road with a male subject walking around the vehicle. The caller noticed the side window had been busted out of the van. The owner of the van called the sheriff’s office upon returning to find the window broken and items missing. A deputy responded and an offense report was taken.

At 11:47 p.m. on June 26 a deputy was dispatched to the 6000 block of SR 124 to investigate a prowler complaint. A resident in the area witnessed a vehicle stop in roadway, and person exit the vehicle and walk in the direction of a neighbor’s residence. The caller was concerned due to a recent attempted break-in at the same location. Homes and outbuildings were checked by deputies, but no suspect was located.
