Hillsboro Police Department reports

The Hillsboro Police Department has released the following information:

On July 13 at 2:15 p.m. the police department responded to a crash in the southbound lane of North West Street and Chariss Avenue intersection. Upon officer arrival it was

found that Melinda Comberger, 37, of Hillsboro, operating a 1998 Honda Civic, failed to observe that traffic in front of her was stopped. Comberger struck the rear of Brigette M. Waggoner’s, 53, of Hillsboro, vehicle, a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu.

On July 15 at 1:43 p.m. the police department received a report of identity fraud from Enuna Smith, 59, of Hillsboro. Smith went to a local business and attempted to use her credit card for payment, which was declined. Through further investigation with Smith’s financial institution it was found that fictitious charges had been made on her account.

On July 15 at 5:36 p.m. the police department responded to the area of South High Street and Lilley Avenue after receiving a report of a traffic crash. Upon officer arrival it was found that Abigail Haught, 18, of Hillsboro, operating a 2010 Ford Focus, struck the rear of Paticia Allen’s, 54, of Lynchburg, vehicle, which is a 2011 Kia SUV. Haught was cited for assured cleared distance.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Jaxnes Myers, of Hillsboro, was cited failure to yield when exiting a private drive.

Jonathan Everhart, of Peebles, citation for failure to reinstate driver’s license and failure to appear on a bench warrant.

Brent Rinehart, of Hillsboro, citation for no operator’s license.

Kari Singleton, of Hillsboro, citation for driving under suspension and disorderly conduct.

Kenneth Groves, of Hillsboro, arrested on a bench warrant for failure to appear.
