Shope hits 1,000 points

Fairfield’s Grace Shope scored her 1,000th point over the weekend during a road game at Manchester High School. The Fairfield ladies took a 68-36 win against their hosts in a fast-paced game Saturday night.

Fairfield outscored Manchester by 11 points in the first quarter, scoring 17 points while keeping Manchester at one 2-pointer and a handful of free throws. Shope scored 9 points in the first quarter, with Carly Arnold and Blake Adams each throwing in 3 points and Brianna Barnes putting up a 2-pointer.

The second quarter saw Fairfield outscore Manchester by 10 points, with Shope putting up 7 points, Trinity Huff making 5 points and Ashley Sowards tossing a 3-pointer.

By the half, the score was 32-11 with the Fairfield ladies ahead.

In the third quarter, Shope put up three 3-pointers and a 2-point shot for a combined 11 points out of Fairfield’s 23 points for the quarter. Chloe Barber put up a 3-pointer, Huff threw two 2-pointers and Adams and Barnes each took a 2-point shot. Adams tossed a free throw to take the third-period score to 55-25.

The fourth quarter saw Fairfield secure the win with a 13-point gain against Manchester’s 11 points. Huff and Adams threw two 2-pointers apiece, Abigail Newkirk and Barnes each put up 2 points and Carli Reiber made a freethrow.

When the clock ran out, Fairfield had the win at 68-36.

Shope led scoring for the Lady Lions with 27 points for the game.

The Hillsboro Lady Indians beat Clinton-Massie by 2 points Saturday night with a final score of 39-37.

Lady Tigers lose to Chillicothe

The McClain Lady Tigers took a home loss Saturday afternoon to the Chillicothe Cavaliers with a final score of 47-33.
