Local prospects receive all-state honors

Several participants from last year’s Ohio Valley Hoops Classic held at Southern State Community College in early December have received all-state honors.

Upper Arlington’s Dane Goodwin and Keegan McDowell of Cincinnati Moeller were first team in Division I. Moeller Ccoach Carl Kremer was named Coach of the Year in Ohio Division I after leading the Crusaders to a 28-1 record and state runner-up finish.

Braden Norris of Hilliard Bradley and Eddie Puisis of Mason were second team all-state selections while Ryan Batte of Oak Hills was a third team all-state selection in Division I.

In Division III, Paint Valley’s 6-10 junior center Dylan Swingle was named a first team all-state selection.

Eric McLaughlin of Lynchburg-Clay received third-team honors in Division III.

In Kentucky, Cooper High School’s Sean McNeil was a first team all-state selection, while teammate Adam Kunkel was a third teamer. The duo led Cooper to a state runner-up finish in the Bluegrass State.

Chance Moore of Louisville Fern Creek received third team all-state honors after leading the Tigers to Kentucky’s Final Four. Cooper’s Tim Sullivan was named Coach of the Year in Kentucky.

In Indiana, Hamilton Southeastern’s Zach Gunn was a first team all-state selection.

The field for next year’s Ohio Valley Hoops Classic will be announced soon, and fans can be assured that another group of star players and great teams will be on display at the Patriot Center on the campus of Southern State Community College in Hillsboro.
