McClain hosted Miami Trace, Whiteoak, and Madison Plains in track and field action

The McClain track team hosted a quad meet Tuesday, with the boys team placing first and the girls team finishing second.

Girls team scores were: Miami Trace 105, McClain 75, Madison Plains 44, Whiteoak 21.

Boys team scores were: McClain 111, Miami Trace 78, Whiteoak 48, Madison Plains 18.

For the girls, the first-place finishers were: Chayden Pitzer finished first in the 100 hurdles, 100 and 200 meter dashes; Ashley Hardesty finished first in the 800 meter race; Kaylee Hurley finished first in the 1600 meter race; the 4×400 team of Hunter Scott, Natalie Cunningham, Emily Parker, and Ashley Hardesty finished first; and the 4×100 team of Maddy Stegbauer, Hunter Scott, Ashley Hardesty, and Chayden Pitzer broke another record, winning the race with a new school record of 50.7.

For the boys team, first-place finishers were: Tristan Pitzer won in the 100 meter dash and the long jump; Landree Gray won in the high jump and 110 hurdles; Ethan Cockerill won in the pole vault; J.P. Pearson won in the discus; Reece Schluep finished first in the 1600; and Kaleb Shepherd won in the 3200.

The track and field teams return to action Friday for the first annual Bob Bergstrom Invitational to be held at McClain High School, with field events starting at 4:30 p.m. and running events at 5:15 p.m.
