Indians sporting new QB going into 2015

Hillsboro Indians Head Coach Matt Hodge is ready for another season of football as he heads into his third year at the helm of the program; his tenth year coaching overall.

For the 2015 season, the Indians are hoping to improve on what was a better year in 2014 where they went 3-7 overall and 1-6 in the South Central Ohio League, beating McClain in the final game 20-8.

The Indians will also be sporting a different look under center in quarterback Hunter Chain. Chain has already shown this year that he will be able to throw the ball down the field a little more than what the Indians are used to having and that is why Coach Hodge says that this year’s team will be switching to a more spread offense look.

The Indians have a total of 51 players on he team this year with 11 seniors. Coach Hodge looks for Ryan Hagan, Jed Asmus, Lane Hester and Heith Brown to lead the team on the field and on the sidelines as they go through the season.

Coach Hodge believes that this year will be just as hard as any other.

In [the SCOL], there are no off nights.” Hodge said. “[The SCOL] is solid from top to bottom and we’re going to have to come out to compete every night in order to be able to win football games. We have been working everyday to get better, that is one of our only goals. If we can do that, the wins will take care of themselves.”

The Indians will kick off their 2015 season against Western Brown this Friday night one their home field in Hillsboro. Last year the Indians were jumped on early by the Broncos and were only able to mount six points against their opponent in the 42-6 loss on the road. The Indians will look to start the season off right starting at 7:30 on Friday night.
