The Whiteoak Wildcat golf team defeated Peebles 191-231 at Hilltop Golf Course last Tuesday afternoon. It marked the first time that Whiteoak had four different golfers shoot under 50 since the season started.

“Our guys are starting to get better,” said Whiteoak coach Steve Large. “They’re learning how to manage the ups and downs of golf. It’s not easy.”

Senior Jake Burns and sophomore Charley Skinner each shot a team-low 46 for medalist honors. Freshmen Traeten Hamilton (48) and Ryan Roberts (49) rounded out Whiteoak’s winning effort.

“We are young,” said Large. “But you can see it in their faces – they know they’re getting better. They want to practice, and they listen. It’s been a good first month of the season.”

The Wildcats will head back to Hilltop Golf Course this Thursday, Sept. 3 for a tri-match versus North Adams and Ironton. Tee time is scheduled for 4:00pm.
