Five in indoor championship

Five Hillsboro High School track players have qualified for the Indoor Track Championship held at the University of Akron of Saturday, March 5. Mackenzie Conlon made 60 Hurdles, the 400, Triple Jump and 4×400 relay; Austin Goolsby for pole vault and long jump; Luke Gallimore and Braden Wildey both will be running in the 4×400 relay.

Sophomore Austin Goolsby has set a new school indoor record in the pole vault this winter. The outdoor record is 14-6 set by Dugan Wood, but Goolsby has already cleared 15-0 indoors this year. He has also long jumped 20-6.

Junior Mackenzie Conlon has personal bests of 51.8 in the 400 meters, 8.61 in the 60-meter hurdles and 39-1 in the triple jump.

The 4 x 100 meter teams has a best time this winter of 3:41.

“We are very pleased,” said Hillsboro Head Track Coach Bud Marsh. “To get kids to do stuff in the offseason is a great way to start the outdoor and we look forward to some great things from these kids.”

Outdoor track practice at Hillsboro starts Monday.
