Rich Bunner enters his first year of coaching the McClain Tiger baseball program for the 2016 season. The Tigers has most of their team back from a year before with a deep pitching staff that Bunner thinks should be able to throw strikes this season.
The team has a lot of work to do to improve on last year but Bunner thinks that have what it takes to get there.
“These guys work together really well,” said Coach Bunner. “We have excellent team unity and I feel like this could be a really good year because these guys have a winning attitude.
“I’m the coach and they are the student athletes. That was something I emphasized right away. These guys will need to understand their role on the team. Not everyone can be a starter and not everyone will stay a starter. If everyone does their part, I think we could have a very successful season going forward.”
The Tigers will kick off their season on the road at Lynchburg-Clay High School this Saturday, March 26 and 11 a.m. The game will be a double header.
