Bell stands guard
Former C.S. Bell employee and bell enthusiast Tim Koehl donated a U.S. Navy YOG Transport Class Ships Bell manufactured by the C.S. Bell Company in 1944 to be displayed behind the veterans memorial at the Highland County Courthouse in Hillsboro.
FRS adding Saturday service
Family Recovery Services (FRS) Transportation will be adding another day of travel service to its travel options soon, according to Chris Hetzel, Highland County mobility manager, at the weekly Wednesday meeting of the Highland County Board of Commissioners.
Tragedy turns into after prom
On May 15, 1953, four young people who had attended the annual Hillsboro High School Junior Prom were on their way home in the early morning hours after visiting Greenfield when every parents’ nightmare unfolded. The vehicle they were in slammed into a bridge, according to newspaper reports at the time, at a high rate of speed. Three of them died.
Children Services levy planned
Highland County Jobs and Family Services (HCJFS) is planning to look to voters in November for a levy, according to Jeremy Ratcliff, director of Highland County Jobs and Family Services.

Former Greenfield man killed in crash
A former Greenfield resident was killed in an accident that claimed three other lives Monday on Interstate 70 near the exit of the Dayton International Airport Access Road.
