Hillsboro Police Department reports

The Hillsboro Police Department has released the following information:

Jan. 24

INCIDENT

On Jan. 24 at 12:38 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department Dispatch received a call from the Highland County Sheriffs Office in reference to a female reportedly being followed by a male subject that she was in fear of harming her. The female was directed to drive to the police department and come inside where she would be safe.

Dispatchers with the HPD immediately advised an officer on patrol of the incident. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of South East Street with the suspect vehicle. During the traffic stop officers identified a female driver as Megan Brown, 20, of Sardinia, and a male passenger was identified as Foryst Rios, 21,of Hillsboro. Rios was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest through the Hillsboro Police Department for criminal damaging or endangering; a second-degree misdemeanor. He was found to be in possession of a large amount of money. A search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of controlled substance and a digital scale.

Both Rios and Brown were placed under arrest and transported to the Highland County Justice Center. Brown was charged by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office with aggravated menacing; a first-degree misdemeanor.

The illegal controlled substance, cash, and digital scale were seized. Items recovered will be submitted to the crime lab and the findings will be submitted to the Highland County Prosecutor’s Office for review and possible felony charges will be filed in the future.

ACCIDENT

At 6:31 p.m. the police department responded to an alley off the 100 block of West Main Street for a report of a vehicle that backed into a pole. Upon investigation it was found that Julie Zapf, of Hillsboro, was pulling into an alley to park next to a business when she backed up and struck a pole that was next to the business. The vehicle had functional damage. No injuries were reported.

Jan. 25

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Shawn Yoakum, 25, of Hillsboro, was arrested for three counts of attempting to purchase an illegal amount of pseudoephedrine.

Jason Bass, 36, of Hillsboro was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Christa Henslee, 34, of Hillsboro, was arrested for possession of drug abuse Instruments and a bench warrant.

John Blair II, 3, of Bethel, was arrested on a bench warrant.

Jan. 27

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Kawliga Barnes, 31, of Wilmington, was cited for driving under suspension.

Two juveniles were cited for underage consumption.

Justin Swisshelm, 35, of Hillsboro, was arrested on domestic violence and violation of a protection order charges.

ACCIDENT

At 9:14 p.m. the police department responded to North High Street and Northview Drive for a report of a crash. Upon investigation, a juvenile advised he stopped at a red light on North High Street at the intersection of Northview Drive. When the light turned from red to green the driver reported hearing a bang and does not know what else happened. There was functional damage to the front of the vehicle and no other parties reportedly involved at that time.

Jan. 28

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Sarah Schwalbauch, 28, of Hillsboro was cited for driving under suspension and insufficient headlight.

Timothy Sipple, 48, of Dayton was cited for OVI and a turn signal violation.

Jan. 29

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Samantha Witt, 23, of Hillsboro, was issued citations for no driver’s license and leaving the scene of an accident.

David Beasley, 40, of Columbus, was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Josh Roland, 33, of Hillsboro, was arrested on a failure to appear bench warrant.

Albert Fry, 37, of Hillsboro, was arrested for criminal damaging.

Joey Webb, 37, of Mason, was arrested on three bench warrants.

Jennifer Westfall, 19, of Hillsboro, was arrested for domestic violence.
