Burwinkel honored for program support


Hillsboro Rotarian Phil Burwinkel, left, was honored by Rotary President Rick Williams this week for the Burwinkel family’s support of the Rotary Youth Exchange program. The Burwinkel family has hosted several foreign exchange students in recent years through the program, and their children have visited families in other countries. According to Rotary International, for over 75 years students and host families have broadened their horizons through Rotary Youth Exchange. More than 80 countries and more than 8,000 students each year participate in the program, which is administered at the regional level by Rotary districts and at the local level by Rotary clubs.
