Larry Moore received first place for his “The Chicken Coop” design at the OAGC Region 16 meeting.

Local members of the Hillsboro Garden Club represented the club at the OAGC Region 16 meeting in Plain City at the Marantha Community Fellowship on May 12. Those attending were Rose Marie Cowdrey, Larry Moore, Nancy Sonner and guest Judy Moore.

After a business meeting, shopping and lunch, the flower show awards were given. The theme was “Something to Crow About.” Larry Moore received first place for his design, “The Chicken Coop;” Rose Marie Cowdrey received second place for her “Sunnyside Up;” and Nancy Sonner got second for her “Little Red Hen.”

An afternoon program was enjoyed on the increasingly popular cactus and succulent revival. Plants are easily grown, less intense care and more spectacular varieties. Bruce Brethauer, Central Ohio Cactus and Succulent Society, informed the club members about the endless plants and ideas on this plant.
