Sheriff Donnie Barrera repots for the week of Sept. 28 to Oct. 4, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 343 911 calls, answered 170 requests for service, dispatched 123 fire and EMS runs, took 41 offense reports and investigated four traffic trashes.

Deputies responded to a Horseshoe Road residence at 7:47 p.m. on Sept. 28th to investigate a domestic disturbance complaint. A female called 911 after allegedly being assaulted by her husband. She was later transported by ambulance as a result of her injuries. After collecting statements from witnesses and speaking to the combatants, deputies arrested Carmon T. Huddleston and Christine R. Huddleston, both of Lynchburg, on domestic violence charges.

A 911 call from a business in the 8000 block of U.S. Route 50 led deputies to the body of a female who died from an apparent overdose at 4:19 a.m. on Sept. 29. A life squad from Paint Creek Station 23 and the Highland County Coroner were also summoned to the scene. An investigation into the facts surrounding the death is still underway.

A citizen on Ferneau Road called the sheriff’s office at 1:05 on Sept. 30 to report a male and female fighting. Deputies were dispatched to the scene to investigate, but by the time they arrived the male suspect had fled on foot. The victim was interviewed and charges were filed. Arrest warrants have since been issued by Hillsboro Municipal Court for the male suspect.

An offense report was taken following the theft of an ATV from a residence on SR 321 in White Oak Township. A deputy was dispatched to the scene where evidence was collected and a witness statement was collected.
