Highland County voters narrowly shut down a Highland County Health Department replacement levy, approved renewal levies for Highland County Children Services and the Great Oaks trade school network, and nixed an additional levy for the Bright Local School District, according to unofficial results from the Highland County Board of Elections.

According to unofficial results Tuesday night, a five-year, 0.5-mill replacement levy for the Highland County Health Department came down to 98 votes with a tally of 6,534 in favor and 6,632 against.
Highland County voters also gave the thumbs down to an additional 3-mill levy for general permanent improvements at the Bright Local School District with a tally of 986 opposed to 703 in favor.
A five-year, 0.9-mill renewal levy for the Highland County Job and Family Services Children Services agency received 7,642 votes in favor and 5,602 against.
A 2.7-mill renewal levy for general expenses in the Great Oaks school network was approved 6,443 to 4,878. According to Great Oaks CEO and President Harry Snyder, the levy has been approved every 10 years since 1988.
