Stratton speech takes 1st

Two members from the Hillsboro FFA Chapter recently competed in the sub-district public speaking career development event at Hillsboro High School. The members who competed in the contest were Riley Stratton and Jenna Rhoads.

Stratton competed in the advanced prepared portion of the contest. In the advanced prepared category, the contestants pick an agricultural-related topic and write a speech which they memorize and present to the judges. The speech is six to eight minutes long. Stratton placed first in the sub-district contest and moved on to district where she placed fifth.

Rhoades competed in the creed speaking portion of the contest where she placed seventh. In that contest, students memorize the FFA Creed, present it to a set of judges, and answer a set of questions asked by the judges about the creed.
