Fourteen indicted by grand jury

A North Carolina man indicted on multiple counts of assault on a peace officer was among 14 people indicted in Highland County Common Pleas Court.

Mathew Segraves, 28, Wilkesboro, North Carolina, was indicted on two counts of assault on a peace officer, both fourth-degree felonies.

According to court documents for both counts, on or around July 29, 2024, Segraves knowingly caused or attempted to cause physical harm to two different victims, both being peace officers.

In other indictments, Brandon Stewart, 36, Hillsboro, was indicted on two counts of breaking and entering, both fifth-degree felonies, two counts of safecracking, both fourth-degree felonies, one count of attempted breaking and entering, a first-degree misdemeanor, and one count of theft, also a first-degree misdemeanor.

According to court documents for the first count, on or around Aug. 6, 2024, Stewart by force, stealth or deception trespassed in a business, an unoccupied structure, with the purpose to commit therein a theft offense or a felony.

According to court documents for the second count, on or around Aug. 6, 2024, Stewart, with the purpose of committing an offense, knowingly entered, forced entry into or tampered with a vault, safe or strongbox.

According to court documents for the third count, on or around Aug. 7, 2024, Stewart by force, stealth or deception trespassed in a business, an unoccupied structure, with the purpose to commit therein a theft offense or a felony.

According to court documents for the fourth count, on or around Aug. 7, 2024, Stewart, with the purpose of committing an offense, knowingly entered, forced entry into or tampered with a vault, safe or strongbox.

According to court documents for the fifth count, on or around Aug. 10, 2024, Stewart purposely or knowingly, and with sufficient capability for the commission of a violation, engaged in conduct that, if successful, would constitute or result in a violation, to wit: breaking and entering.

According to court documents for the sixth count, on or around Aug. 6, 2024, and continuing through Aug. 10, 2024, Stewart did, with the purpose of depriving the victim of their property, knowingly obtained or exerted control over said property, to wit: U.S. currency, without the owner’s consent or person authorized to give consent.

Tomie Showman, 41, Washington Court House, was indicted on two counts of telecommunications harassment, both fifth-degree felonies.

According to court documents for the first count, on or around July 27, 2024, Showman knowingly made or caused to be made a telecommunication to another, ad the caller knowingly made a telecommunication to the victim, the recipient of the communication to another person at the premises to which the telecommunication was made, or to those premises, and the recipient, or another person at those premises, previously told the caller to not make a telecommunication to those premises or to any other person at those premises, and Showman had been previously convicted of a violation, to wit: telecommunications harassment in Highland County case no. CRB1700453 on Dec. 20, 2017.

According to court documents for the second count, on or around July 27, 2024, Showman made or caused to be made a telecommunication or permitted a telecommunication to be made from a telecommunications device under their control with the purpose of abusing, threatening or harassing another person, with Showman having already been convicted of a violation, to wit: telecommunications harassment in Highland County case no. CRB1700453 on Dec. 20, 2017.

Also indicted on Tuesday were:

*Chenoa Dove-Jordan, 43, Greenfield, for possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a third-degree felony, and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.

*Tara Dehaas, 32, Hillsboro, aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony.

*Justin Stubbs, 46, South Salem, for receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony, and aggravated possession of methamphetamine, fifth-degree felony.

*Billy Stone, 55, Hillsboro, for aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony.

*Dylan Downs, 25, Clarksburg, for aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony.

*Scott Knisley, 52, Leesburg, for aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony.

*Christopher Holt, 37, Greenfield, for aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony.

*Christopher Chaffin, 37, West Union, for aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony.

*Robbie Munyon, 59, Leesburg, for aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, a third-degree felony, aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a third-degree felony, and a forfeiture specification.

*Tammy Dietrich, 55, Hillsboro, for aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony.

*Virginia Beall, 47, Hillsboro, for aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony.
