Greenfield Exempted Village School District Board of Education meeting

The Greenfield Exempted Village School District Board of Education will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at 750 McClain Avenue in the new GEVSD Multipurpose Building. An open house for the building will be held prior to the meeting, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Teacher Retirement Planning Workshop on October 22

The Highland County Retired Teachers’ Association (HCRTA) will sponsor a pre-retirement information workshop for all active teachers and administrators who are planning to retire in the next few years. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 4 p.m. in the Hillsboro Elementary School Library on US Route 62 South. Representatives from STRS will discuss general retirement procedures and they will also answer specific personal questions related to retirement. The workshop is free and open to all teachers and administrators. Marshall Fall Fun Fest

The Marshall School Committee will host a Fall Fun Fest at the Marshall School Gymnasium on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A variety of carnival games and cake walks will be enjoyed. Game tickets will be available for 25 cents apiece or 5 for $1. Refreshments of sloppy joes, coney dogs, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, cole slow, dessert and drinks will be available for a free-will donation. Come join the fun as we celebrate fall. Bainbridge Church of Christ Trunk or Treat

The community is invited to “Trunk or Treat” on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., in the parking lot of the Bainbridge Church of Christ located at 3812 U. S. 50 West, Bainbridge, OH. Kids of all ages are encouraged to dress in their favorite costumes and stroll through the parking lot with their families to get some sweet treats from the decorated cars. This will be a fun-filled evening that you do not want to miss! (Please note: this event will not be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather).

Retired Teachers to Meet on October 28

The Highland County Retired Teachers’ Association (HCRTA) will hold its regular fall meeting on Monday, October 28, at the Hillsboro Church of Christ fellowship hall. The church is located at 155 W. Walnut Street. Social time will begin at 11 a.m. and the meal will be served at noon. Following lunch, the guest speaker will be Ms. Tamla Cole from STRS in Columbus. She will discuss the health plans and other major issues related to STRS. The business meeting will follow the STRS presentation. The cost for the meal is $14.00. Leesburg Area Historical Society to host third annual Heritage Breakfast

The Leesburg Area Historical Society will host its third annual Heritage Breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 8 to 11 am. The meal will be served at the Highland County North Joint Fire & Ambulance Station Community Room (200 South St. Leesburg). On the menu are pancakes & sausage, biscuits & gravy, and beverages. There will be a local history display with paintings of barns from around Highland County. Traditional & folk music will be performed by John Noftsger between 8 and 9:30; country music will be performed by Patrick Roush between 10 and 11. Antique and vintage items will be appraised by Betty Ann Walker. Hillsboro VFW Post 9094 is trying to locate all World War II veterans in Highland County to try to get an idea how many are left, and to possibly honor them in some way. If anyone knows of a World War II veteran in the county, contact Gary Boatman at 937-763-6585.

Senior Food Boxes

The Highland County Church of Christ is giving out senior food boxes the third Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 6670 U.S. Route 50, Hillsboro. They are boxes of canned shelf stable items, plus cheese. Qualifications include: age 60 and older and an income form to be filled out one time. Walk-in Wednesday clinics

The Highland County Health Department holds Walk-in Wednesday’s Flu/COVID-19 Vaccine Clinks are every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the office at 1487 N. High St., Suite 400, Hillsboro. A special meeting of Greenfield Village Council has been set for 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 5 to discuss the purchase of a VAC truck. It will be held in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 300 Jefferson St.
