Hillsboro FFA busy at fair beef barn

The Hillsboro FFA was extremely busy this year in the beef barn at the Highland County Fair. With exhibitors competing in the open and junior shows as well as showmanship, skillathon and county born and bred it was a successful week. Starting the week with exhibitors Blake Herdman, Camron Burkhard and Emma Yochum competing in the open breeding show, all winning their respective breeds. Tuesday was showmanship where Herdman won the 16-year-old division and was Champion Senior Showman. Cater Boyd was second in the 16-year-old showmanship. Emma Yochum was champion 15-year-old and Champion Intermediate Showman. She went on to be the Reserve Supreme Beef Showman. Camron Burkhard was fourth in 15 year-old-showmanship. In the junior breeding show exhibitors had lots of success. Yochum won the Chi Heifers, Jacob Seaman was Reserve Chi heifer, Burkhard won the Shorthorns and Herdman won the AOBs. Dalaya Collins had Reserve Champion County Born and Bred Market Steer and on Thursday night she had the third Overall Market Steer. Boyd had a class win with his feeder calf on Thursday night in the junior show. Other awards in the beef barn include Herdman winning her age in skillathon and record book as well as overall outstanding breeding exhibitor. Yochum won her age group in the record books.
