Gas prices statewide and countrywide have fallen significantly since numbers a month ago, according to statistics and news releases from the American Automobile Association (AAA).

Concerning Hillsboro, gas prices have gone down extensively since the last time The Times-Gazette did a gas prices report, with the lowest price per gallon seen in Hillsboro being $3.10, as it was previously $3.49 on July 29, 2024.

Ohio had a highly pronounced decline compared to a month ago, coming in with the 22nd highest gas price of all of the states in the country plus Washington, D.C. The site said Ohio’s average price per gallon was $3.164 as of Tuesday. That is a climb from one week ago when the price per gallon was $3.074, according to AAA. It was, however, a decline from one month ago when it was $3.257.

“Hurricane Helene will likely impact gasoline demand, but not supply,” Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, said. “The storm is missing the Gulf’s oil production and refining centers as it lumbers through the Southeast. But power outages, structural damage, and road flooding will hinder people from fueling up for a few days. So any impact on the national average will probably be fleeting.”

That fall was also seen countrywide, according to AAA, from one month ago. AAA statistics for the national gas prices, updated on Tuesday, showed that the current gas price was $3.204 across the country, with that average down from $3.333 one month ago.

“According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand rose from 8.77 million b/d last week to 9.20,” the AAA release said. “Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks fell slightly from 221.6 million barrels to 220.1, while gasoline production increased last week, averaging 9.8 million barrels daily. Tepid gasoline demand and low oil costs will likely keep pump prices sliding. “

The lowest area gas prices, according to GasBuddy on Tuesday, were:

*Chillicothe — The lowest price was $3.13 at Murphy USA.

*Greenfield — The lowest price was $3.22 at Shell.

*Hillsboro — The lowest price was $3.10 at Marathon.

*Mount Orab — The lowest price was $2.91 at multiple places.

*Wilmington — The lowest price was $3.14 at Marathon.
